In creating a regional literary journal, we hope to provide emerging artists & writers a respectable, elegant venue for publication with an affordable reader's fee ($5 per submission). There is a need for another literary journal in the region for 2 reasons: the first factor is affordability since most emerging artists are financially strapped in this straightened economy and cannot afford most reader’s fees, & the second is that in our intended market area (Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi), there is a limited number of journals to which artists can submit. Grits & Gravy will publish a number of genres--poetry, shorts stories, personal essays, and original artwork and illustration. Grits & Gravy will be a soft-cover publication in a 6” x 9” format with full-color illustrations.
